SUTTONS COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Humpty Dumpty Foundation

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a children’s charity that, for more than 28 years has been purchasing essential and often life-saving medical equipment for sick and injured children in hospitals across Australia. We support Humpty by providing a vehicle for use by the foundation and by purchasing equipment from Humpty’s wish list every year. We also participate in the fabulous Balmoral Burn fundraising event.

The Fred Hollows Foundation

In 2017 we partnered with the Fred Hollows Foundation to support and fund the Outback Eye Service, the only public ophthalmology service west of Orange in NSW. In the 1970s, Fred Hollows himself started the Outback Eye Service, after witnessing the horrific state of eye health in his own ‘backyard’ – particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents. Through our support of the Outback Eye Service, in 2017 the Fred Hollows Foundation was able to:
  • Screen 1200 people in Western NSW
  • Perform 100 cataract surgeries
  • Perform 100 diabetic retinopathy treatments
  • Distribute 400 pairs of spectacles
  • Train 1 ophthalmologist
  • Employ a full-time Ophthalmic Nurse and part-time Orthoptist

HOLDEN'S NSW COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Surf Life Saving Australia

Chippies and seagulls, rashies and sunscreen, Holden cars and Surf Lifesaving flags. Nothing goes together quite like these two iconic Australian brands. As Australians, the beach is practically in our DNA, so it was only natural that we teamed up with Surf Life Saving Australia to help keep Australia’s beaches safer.

The red and yellow-capped clubbies that patrol Australia’s surf beaches every weekend are as iconic as Holden or the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Since 1907, volunteers have been hitting the beach to rescue those in need and educate us on beach safety. And with nearly 170,000 members in 313 clubs, the not-for-profit Surf Life Saving Australia is the largest organisation of its kind in the world.

Holden is proud to be the latest supporter of the SLSA. Our three-year partnership will see the beach-loving Colorado 4WD adopted as the organisation’s official patrol vehicle to provide rapid emergency response.

As well as that, Holden will provide financial assistance and, through its national dealer network, actively promote the SLSA’s key public safety messages.

Powerchair Football

Part wheelchair, part secret weapon. See how Holden helped make Powerchair better

Powerchair Football is one of the fastest growing sports for power wheelchair users. The sport combines the skill of the wheelchair user, with the speed and power of the chair itself. As part of Holden Home Ground Advantage, we were proud to award NSW Powerchair Football Association with a $100,000 grant, which was used to order eight new, purpose-built powerchairs that will enable more people with a disability to hit the court.

But we didn’t stop there. The Holden Engineering team also put up there hand to help in the design and build of standardised guards for the wheelchairs, improving on the previous guards which could often be unsafe.

NRL

There is nothing more exciting than the exhilaration of a try. As the official car company of the National Rugby League, we are proud to be the naming rights partner to the Holden State of Origin, Women’s State of Origin and the inaugural Women’s Premiership Season. It’s exciting to see the talent come through the ranks and out on to this country’s biggest sporting stage.

We love rugby. Almost as much as we love encouraging diversity, and giving all Australians a fair go.

So we couldn’t prouder to be the major sponsor of this year’s inaugural NRL Holden Women’s Premiership.

Women’s rugby is fast, fun, and played with a whole new flair. No wonder it’s part of the fastest growing game.

Todd Greenberg, NRL Chief Executive went so far as to say “the formation of a women’s Premiership is one of the most exciting developments the game has seen.”

We love to be doing our part in bring more athletes onto the big stage, and to whole new audiences.
